Leyel and Dylan have lived in Houston most of their lives and did not meet until June 22, 2022, at the Texas Society of Interpreters for the Deaf conference where they fell in love at first sight. They even crossed paths many times prior to that conference and have many mutual friends.

They did not start dating until October of that year. Leyel lives in Houston and works as an interpreting professor at Lone Star College and as a community interpreter. Dylan worked as a lab director at San Antonio College in San Antonio. Dylan eventually moved back to his hometown and works at Lone Star College and Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD).

On the day before their 2nd anniversary of meeting for the first time, Dylan asked Leyel to be together forever…And she said YES!
